Stripy Boots Great & Small

A tiny fuzzy creature showed up in our garden this week… dressed in a fresh stripy suit like his mom’s. He was cautious but curious and I doubt he has a month’s worth of entries in his diary yet. As I watched the rest of his family protect him, I caught a glimpse of his hooves beside his mother’s. For the fashionistas among us, I’m just going to go on and say this about Zebras: their standard issue stripy boots are fine indeed!! As I watched those small hooves stay close to the substantially bigger ones, I contemplated the trust they represented. A small child walking trustingly in the footsteps of his mother and her unwavering commitment to lead and protect in a way that honours that unquestioning trust. I am persuaded that the world would be a different place tomorrow if every single human parent did the same…¬†and if society at large surrounded parents with love and practical support the way the other zebras in this family did – well, I would say the potential for change in the world would be unlimited.
